Karen Bast, NASM, ACE-CPT

Personal Trainer, RSB Coach, PWR! Moves Instructor

Karen has been a Personal Trainer for over 20 years.  Karen is a certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise.

She enjoys helping her clients be able to continue performing activities they enjoy. Her goal is to get her clients to master basic functional movements and to improve overall strength, balance and endurance. She wants training to be fun and to make it a forever lifestyle change.

Karen started working with a client who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Her client's determination to do everything possible to slow the progression of the disease inspired her to become more specialized and work with people diagnosed with Parkinson's.

Shen then became a certified PWR!Moves Instructor and also a Certified Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) Coach to work with Parkinson clients.

When Karen is not training or teaching RSB she loves spending time with her family. Karen also loves to be outdoors; hiking or kayaking.

Matt Florentine, ACE-CPT

Movement is medicine for Matt Florentine.  Matt grew up playing many different sports with baseball being his favorite.  Once Matt graduated high school he spent a number of years working as an automotive technician.  While he spent time working on cars he always had a passion for the gym and sport performance. Matt started pursuing this passion and became a CrossFit Level 1 Coach in 2013, soon after he became a USAW (USA weightlifting) coach, holds his ACE personal trainer and has training in DNS (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization), and still coaches CrossFit. Over the years of coaching and training people Matt started putting his mechanic mind to work, fixing movement patterns in the gym setting.  Outside you can find Matt with his family; wife, Stephanie and daughters, Joanna and Addaline; or in the gym working on his own fitness goals.

Staff really cares and are well prepared to lead Rock Steady Boxing each time. I found great benefit from the personal training I had with Karen which was tailored to my needs.
